Products Description
Dichloromethane (molecular formula: CH₂Cl₂) is generated by substituting two hydrogen atoms of methane with chlorine atoms. It is a colorless, transparent and volatile liquid denser than water, featuring an ether‑like, sweet‑scented odor. While non‑flammable on its own, it may form explosive mixtures upon contact with high‑concentration oxygen. It is slightly soluble in water yet miscible with most conventional organic solvents. Furthermore, it is fully miscible in all proportions with other chlorinated solvents, diethyl ether, ethanol and N,N‑dimethylformamide.

Products Application
Dichloromethane features powerful dissolving capacity and relatively low toxicity, which enables its extensive use in manufacturing safety films and polycarbonate materials. Besides, it can be applied as coating solvent, metal degreasing agent, aerosol spray component, polyurethane foaming agent, mold‑release agent and paint remover.
In the pharmaceutical sector, dichloromethane acts as a reaction medium for synthesizing ampicillin, hydroxybenzyl penicillin and cephalosporin products. It also finds broad usage as a solvent for film production, petroleum dewaxing solvent, aerosol propellant, extractant for organic synthesis, foaming agent for polyurethane and other foam polymers, as well as metal cleaning agent.
