Products Description

Triisobutyl phosphate, commonly known as TIBP or phosphoric acid triisobutyl ester, is a high‑polarity solvent with broad‑ranging industrial uses. It is employed as an additive for concrete liquefaction agents, paper‑coating systems and textile auxiliaries. One of its key functions is acting as an antifoaming agent in multiple aqueous‑based systems, where it eliminates existing foam and suppresses new‑foam generation effectively.

TIBP also works as a solvent for synthetic resins and natural rubber. Within cellulose‑based plastics and synthetic resins, it performs as a flame‑retardant plasticizer to boost both fire resistance and material flexibility. Furthermore, it acts as a dispersant for pigment pastes to achieve even pigment distribution.

Thanks to its viscosity that remains largely unaffected by temperature shifts, TIBP is an essential component for formulating aircraft hydraulic fluids. As a high‑performance wetting agent, it is widely adopted in textile processing and adhesive production, improving substrate wetting performance and strengthening bonding strength in different end‑use scenarios.

Products Application

Phosphate esters represent a class of multi‑purpose industrial chemicals, which can function as flame retardants, plasticizers, hydraulic‑fluid components, solvents, extractants and antifoaming agents.

Phosphate‑ester‑based flame retardants enter the environment via industrial effluents and the disposal of end‑products containing such substances. These man‑made compounds gained widespread popularity starting in the 1970s, and have since been detected in water, soil and atmospheric media across the globe.

Three primary factors account for their frequent occurrence in surface water and groundwater: leaching from PVC materials and polyurethane foams, discharge through industrial wastewater, and environmental contamination caused by hydraulic‑fluid spills. Water contaminated in this manner may further migrate and reach drinking‑water resources.

Hydrolysis serves as the major natural degradation pathway for these flame retardants in the environment. Nevertheless, degradation proceeds at a low rate due to their poor water solubility, and the decomposition rate is heavily influenced by ambient pH conditions. In soil and sediment environments, these compounds bind strongly to solid particles and thus exhibit persistence. For phosphate‑ester fractions adsorbed onto soil particles, atmospheric volatilization and microbial degradation constitute the principal removal mechanisms.
