It is applied for the colorimetric determination of phosphorus, magnesium, niobium, copper, silicon and arsenic, as well as polarographic and volumetric assay of iridium. It can be used as a reducing agent for heteropolyacids, copper and gold, and serves for the detection of phosphate, tungstate, nitrate, nitrite, selenium and tellurium. Besides, it functions as a developer, antioxidant, desulfurizing agent in fertilizer manufacturing and urea synergist.
