Products Description

Molecular sieve is an aluminosilicate compound featuring a cubic crystal lattice. Its core structure is a hollow framework constructed from silicon‑oxygen‑aluminum linkages. This structure is equipped with abundant well‑ordered channels and uniform pores, delivering a large specific internal surface area. It also contains low‑charge, large‑radius metal ions together with chemically bound water.

Upon heating, molecular sieves lose their bound water molecules while retaining the integrity of the crystal framework. Numerous equally‑sized cavities are generated, interconnected by micropores of identical diameter. These uniform‑size micropores adsorb molecules smaller than the pore opening into internal cavities and block larger molecules. Accordingly, molecular sieves can separate substances by molecular dimension, shape, polarity, boiling point and saturation degree. This unique molecular‑sieving capability gives rise to its name. Nowadays, molecular sieves are extensively applied in chemical, electronic, petrochemical and natural‑gas industries.

Molecular sieve 3A mainly serves as a desiccant within petroleum and chemical industries. It delivers excellent drying performance for unsaturated hydrocarbons such as ethylene, propylene and butadiene, and can also dehydrate ethanol.

Beyond that, it is applied to dry ethanol, refrigerants and natural gas. It performs selective water adsorption for insulated glass (IG) units and polyurethane materials. As a versatile desiccant, it is compatible with both polar and non‑polar medium systems.
