Products Description
Sodium sulfate (CAS No. 7757‑82‑6, molecular formula: Na₂SO₄), alternatively named thenardite or salt cake, is a crystalline inorganic compound with a melting point of 888 °C (1632 °F). Its natural mineral form, thenardite, occurs in deposits across Chile and Spain. It serves as a key raw material for manufacturing paperboard, glass and freezing mixtures.
Its hydrate form, Na₂SO₄·10H₂O, commonly referred to as Glauber's salt, is a white, water‑soluble solid. It can be synthesized by reacting sodium chloride with sulfuric acid, and finds practical uses in textile dyeing, glass production, and the preparation of sodium bisulfate.
