Tris(2‑ethylhexyl) phosphate is a transparent viscous liquid used in vinyl stabilizers, grease additives and flame‑retardant formulations. Its most important application is as a plasticizer for vinyl plastics and synthetic rubber compounds.

It also functions as a dedicated flame‑retardant plasticizer for vinyl goods requiring good low‑temperature flexibility, such as military tarpaulins. When mixed with general‑purpose plasticizers including phthalate esters, it can further improve the low‑temperature flexibility of blended systems.
