Products Description
Polyphenyl polymethylene polyisocyanate, commonly abbreviated as PAPI and also known as crude MDI, is a light‑yellow to brown viscous liquid with a sharp, pungent odour. It has a relative density of 1.2 (20 °C/20 °C), a flash point of 218 °C and a freezing point below 10 °C. Its viscosity ranges from 200 to 1000 mPa·s when measured at 25 °C.
PAPI is a mixed composition containing approximately 50 % MDI and 50 % polyisocyanate components with functionality greater than two. It is prone to self‑polymerization under heated conditions. The material dissolves readily in common organic solvents such as chlorobenzene, o‑dichlorobenzene and toluene.
