Products Description of Cellulose Diacetate CAS#9035-69-2
Cellulose diacetate (CAS No. 9035-69-2; molecular formula: C₂H₄O₂·1/2) is a cellulose-based derivative obtained through the acetylation of natural cellulose. As a thermoplastic resin, it belongs to the acetate family and has a relatively low degree of esterification. Compared with cellulose triacetate, cellulose diacetate exhibits better dyeability and a higher moisture regain rate. It is produced by reacting cellulose with acetic anhydride in the presence of a catalyst. This material is characterized by its non-toxic and odorless nature, breathability, thermal stability, and quick-drying properties.

Cellulose diacetate is widely used in the textile industry to produce composite yarn products, including suit linings and sportswear. In plastics processing, it is used to manufacture eyeglass frames, tool handles, and biodegradable materials, while in the pharmaceutical industry, it is employed in filtration equipment.
Through spinning processes, cellulose diacetate can be converted into cigarette filters and textile materials. When blended with plasticizers, it can be processed into plastic films or formed through injection molding into sheets, tubes, rods, packaging containers, handlebar grips, tool handles, and pen barrels. Additional applications include magnetic recording tapes, reverse osmosis membranes, packaging films, capacitor films, binders for fiberglass, and various coating products.
Continuous filaments made from cellulose diacetate are widely used in premium apparel fabrics, garment linings, and fashion accessories. These filaments feature a natural, silk-like luster, a soft and smooth feel, excellent drape, thermoplastic properties, and good dimensional stability. However, their relatively low strength and limited abrasion resistance can restrict their performance in certain textile applications.
Cellulose diacetate is also used in the production of eyeglass frames. In addition, cellulose diacetate sheets are suitable for high-end applications, including back films for mobile phones.
